Long - Term Variability of the Hard X - ray Source GRS 1758 – 258 : GRANAT / SIGMA Observations
The results of GRANAT/SIGMA hard X-ray observations of GRS 1758–258 in 1990–1998 are presented. The source lies at ∼ 5 from the Galactic Center and was within the SIGMA field of view during the GRANAT surveys of this region. The total exposure time of the Galactic Center was 11×10 s. The regular SIGMA observations revealed strong variability of the source: the 40–150 keV flux varied at least by...
متن کاملROSAT observation of GRS 1739 – 278
We have observed GRS 1739–278 with the ROSAT HRI on March 31, 1996. The improved X-ray position proves the identification with an earlier discovered variable radio source. We derive an extinction of A V = 14 ± 2 from the dust scattering halo, which implies a distance of d ≈ 6–8.5 kpc. Thus, GRS 1739–278 radiates at least near the Eddington limit for a 1 M ⊙ compact object. The existence of the ...
متن کاملObservation of the Heavy Baryons Sigma b and Sigma b*.
We report an observation of new bottom baryons produced in pp collisions at the Tevatron. Using 1.1 fb(-1) of data collected by the CDF II detector, we observe four Lambda b 0 pi+/- resonances in the fully reconstructed decay mode Lambda b 0-->Lambda c + pi-, where Lambda c+-->pK* pi+. We interpret these states as the Sigma b(*)+/- baryons and measure the following masses: m Sigma b+=5807.8 -2....
متن کاملThe surroundings of the superluminal source GRS 1915 + 105
We have carried out radio studies of the surroundings of the superluminal microquasar GRS 1915+105. Our main goal was to understand the possible relation of GRS 1915+105 with two infrared/radio sources that appear symmetrically located with respect to GRS 1915+105 and aligned with the position angle of the relativistic ejecta. We have also studied a nearby supernova remnant to test if the event...
متن کاملRapid X - ray variability of the superluminal source GRS 1915
The superluminal X-ray transient source GRS 1915+105 was observed during July 20-29, 1996 with the Indian X-ray Astronomy Experiment (IXAE) on the Indian satellite IRS-P3 launched on March 21, 1996 from Shriharikota Range in India. During our observations covering the energy band 2-18 keV, we have seen strong erratic intensity variations on time scale of 0.1s 10s. Quasi Periodic Oscillations (Q...
